We are facing one problem. We had installed Oracle 9i with the NLS_characterset parameter as US7ASCII but since we are going for multilingual support, we want to change this parameter to UTF8. Once when we tried to change this parameter to AL32UTF8 we faced problem. It started giving error like fatal two way communication failure. Again we set this parameter to US7ASCII and shut down the database. When we started the database again, we did not face any such error. But since our requirement is to change this to UTF8, can we update this parameter without disturbing other databeses since it is a superset, then how to change this parameter. Please reply asap.
