We are running reports Server 6i on Oracle 8i and on a 3-tier client server environment at the moment and are in the process of migrating the database to 9i. Is it possible for us to continue using the Reports 6i server on the 9i database. Or i will have to use Reports 9iAS sevices and communicate with the 6i clients or any other suggestions. any help on this would be highly appreciated.

Thanks

You can still run your reports on the 9i DB. You don't have to upgrade your Reports server. Now... this is not all-inclusive. Dependant on the SQL used to generate the reports, some syntax may be obsolete, some measurements may be a little off. But we run DB 9.2.0.3 and Reports Server 6i and have no problems.

HTH,
Steve

Thanks Steve. But i have another question , during the database migration to 9i , we will also be moving from NT to Windows 2000 , so how do i go about installing Reports 6i in 2000 since the CD says its for 98 and NT. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

An OS change is out of my realm of knowledge. My gut response would be... hey, try it see what happens

I have a feeling you will be experiencing some problems but I am really not sure on this topic. You need a DBA to answer that.

Sorry!
