Srinivas,
I believe this has been discussed here previously, but anyway, a functional consultant can be responsible for:
- designing business processes
- gathering requirements
- performing a fit-gap analysis, i.e. whether the requirements can be met by the standard application or customisations are necessary, and if so what kind of customisations.
- designing and performing configuration
- performing the functional design of customisations (reports, interfaces, conversions, extensions and workflows)
- planning and executing assembly, product and user acceptance tests
- designing, developing and delivering user guides and training
