Query running slow .. a day before it was fine [message #261493]

A query use to run fine every day .. even yesterday it was working fine... today user complains query is running very slow.. what steps are to be taken to troubleshoot this ..

Other than reading & following the advice in the STICKY posts at the top of this forum, you could stop random folks on the street & ask them what they would do.

Can some one help me on this issue..

if not the details how to go about troubleshooting...at least some basic things i need to follow.

Its not that i am asking with out studying the subject. i have studied many topics.. i am not sure where to start from

Shall i use sqltrace and trprof to determine what is going wrong..
or
Shall i use explain plan ....

how should i approach to find a solution for this ...

check the volume of the data.
Analyze the tables.
create index, if required.
analyze the indexes, if it was there.
check the cost of execution plan.

Sincerely... I was reading your thread from the starting...but you didn't post any technical information here. If I ask to you... "my production query got slow"... were you able to guide me?

Hi,

I have SAP R/3 4.7 on HP-UX 11.23 & Oracle 9i. Users are facing slow performance issues while working on these SAP servers...what are the checks at the Oracle Database level, if there is any tuning can be done to improve the overall performance. Please Help.
