CTOUG re-launch meeting

articles:

I was at the Connecticut Oracle User Group re-launch meeting last week, talking about some of the 12c new features that I specially like: those related to what I call "the self-learning database".

Particularly, automatic detection of the need for extended statistics; the full automation of the SQL Baselining facility; the enhancements to cardinality feedback; and of course adaptive execution plans. Or, to put it the way Kevin Meade might put it, "It's all about the cardinality, baby".
It was a fun morning (and a free lunch, paid for by Larry). There were some very skilled people there, working on interesting projects, who gave me some tough questions. There should be more people joining as word gets out. I even met Kevin (his beard is every bit as impressive in reality as on his avatar). If anyone else is in that part of America, watch out for their next meeting. It will be advertised on CTOUG
There was no recording made of the event, but if anyone would like my slides and demonstration scripts, they are here CTOUG slides and scripts You do have to register to get them, sorry about that but there should be no spam.
